SEVIS Registration Requirements - Initial Students
All F-1 students must complete SEVIS registration upon arrival in the United States. Failure to register within the required timeframe may result in status termination.
Submit Required Documents
Within 3 days of arrival, provide the school with your passport, F-1 visa, I-94 record (available at i94.cbp.dhs.gov), and I-20 form.
Complete Check-In Forms
Fill out the student information form with your U.S. address, phone number, and emergency contact information. Verify all information is accurate and current.
Attend Orientation Session
Participate in the mandatory orientation session where our DSO will review immigration regulations and activate your SEVIS record.
Verify SEVIS Activation
We will update your I-20 after registration in order to activate your status. The updated I-20 will be uploaded in your Student Profile.
Important: SEVIS registration must be completed within 30 days of your program start date as listed on your I-20. Students who fail to register will be considered out of status and may have their I-20 terminated.
If you have questions about SEVIS registration, please contact our DSO immediately at metrowest@antares.edu
F-1 Visa Maintenance Requirements
As an international student, maintaining your F-1 visa status is crucial for the continuation of your studies in the United States. Please carefully review these essential guidelines.
Full-Time Enrollment
F-1 students must maintain full-time enrollment (18 hours/week) during each academic session. Reducing your course load below full-time without prior authorization from the DSO may violate your status.
Attendance Requirements
Regular attendance is mandatory. Students must maintain at least 75% attendance in all classes. Excessive absences may result in the termination of your I-20.
Reporting Obligations
You must inform the DSO of any changes to your address, phone number, or emergency contact information within 10 days of the change.
Academic Progress
Satisfactory academic progress is required to maintain F-1 status.
Travel Authorization
Before traveling outside the U.S., ensure your I-20 is signed for travel by the DSO. Verify that your visa and passport remain valid for re-entry.
Failure to comply with these regulations may result in the termination of your F-1 status. If you have questions about maintaining your status, please contact our Designated School Official (DSO) at metrowest@antares.edu
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential for your academic success and maintaining your F-1 visa status. At Antares Metrowest, we expect all students to attend classes consistently and punctually.
Minimum Requirements
Students must maintain at least 75% attendance in all courses. Falling below this t may result in probationary measures and could affect your visa status.
For Monday-Thursday schedule (4.5 hours/day): Students can miss no more than 13 days per term (considering a 13-week term)
For two full days schedule (9 hours/day): Students can miss no more than 6 days per term (considering a 13-week term).
Absence Documentation
All absences must be properly documented. Medical absences require appropriate documentation from a healthcare provider.
Consequences
Excessive absences may lead to academic probation, affecting your ability to progress through language levels and potentially resulting in termination of your I-20.
